  • Wow it has been a long time since I have been on here to update.  Guess I will try to catch everyone up on the happenings here in SD.

I started a new job in Sept at the prison in Springfield. It is an all male prison with 1200 or so inmates at any given time.  We work in a building for medical and have 5 beds for an infirmary.  We have clinic like appts during the day and a PAC 5 days a week that sees inmates as needed.  Pretty exciting most of the time....always something going on that needs attention.  We have med techs so don't give a ton of meds....which I kinda enjoy the break but when the nurse has to do meds it can be a challenge...having several hundred guys coming for meds at any given time and they are all in line becoming inpatient with the incompetent nurse standing at the window trying to get all the right pills to them.  My brother also works out there and that has been kinda fun.  I am getting fully initiated by some of the DOC staff...there are a few in particular that don't like me so much....who knew some of the stuff I have done was not to their liking....  I really enjoy what I am doing and I am still PRN or as needed in Vermillion so have gone back there a few times so far cuz part of me misses that too!  Being around someone besides men is kinda nice too.  I also kinda stupidly got myself involved as the PTA President for the girls school....I am regretting that sometimes but I am also glad that I have been able to help out and be apart of the things that are done for the school.  I just wish there were more parents that gave a darn about the things we need and do for our kids.  You can't do anything without volunteers...and those are slim to none sometimes making my life more stressful.

Rachael is in 6th grade and she made the honor roll 1st quarter missing role of excellance by 0.5 pts.  Where she got that I am not sure...must be my sister or brothers cuz surely wasn't from me.... She did basketball which was interesting....I kinda wanted to bang my head on the wall watching some of the games but I chalk it up to they are learning....She also is in chorus right now and she seems to like that ok.

Ashley is in 4th grade and she likes school.  She is in Book Club and Spanish Club both that were started this year.  I think she likes being the oldest Eskins in the school so far.

Allison is in 1st grade and loving it....she has so many friends and is quite the social butterfly!  She has gone to lots of parties already this year and even went to a sleepover Halloween party!

Jason is still working for Robinson Motors but always looking for something else.  He played baseball this summer so that was a busy time being gone 4-5 nights a week....

Went golfing for the first time in my life in Sept and actually liked it.  My dad bought the girls a Wii over the summer so they would have something to do that requires physical activity and not just sitting around watching the TV so we play lots of stuff on there.    The older girls combined their bday money and got a big trampoline which was a nice addition for something for them to do.

The girls and I are taking classes to become Catholic like Jason is.  Allison doesn't have to do anything extra since she is so little but the older 2 have to have some 1 on 1 classes with a member of the parish to "catch up" since they should have done 1st communion already and there are lots of prayers and little things they should know by this age.  I am taking RCIA classes and that has been ok...I am not a big person for talking in big groups about things I don't necessarily understand all that well.  Any suggestions on how to become more comfortable with that would be great!

i have been thinking alot about family and ways to get and keep in better contact with them cuz one thing I have learned is that life is short and you can't waste any time on the unknown.  I would like to have ways to help some of the people in my family that won't accept the help and I get frustrated with not being able to....

Well that is all I can think of for now...I should probably go make some supper and get my clan fed.

    Good night!

  • Hi All...it has been quite a while since I have been on here so thought I would update.  Lets see what has all happened since I have been on here last?  Wow what a summer...Jason had baseball several nights a week this summer and the girls enjoyed going to his games.  I had to work most of the nights so they got to be his cheering section.  They went to state and ended up losing the championship by 2 points in the bottom of the ninth!  Bummer!  It was a good weekend though...Jason and I ended up staying in Mitchell in the motel while the kids went to their Uncle Joshs house for a fun filled weekend.

Rachael had a rough summer....she had to babysit her sisters which she didn't like much cuz they don't listen to her....(join the crowd I say cuz they don't listen to me either)....and then she had to get 3 teeth pulled in preperation for her braces which she got today!  Boy was that interesting....I had to have my mom come with because last week the experience of getting spacers was more than enough for me....Rachael has just a bit of drama....and this was multiplied by 100 when we were getting the 3 of 12 spacers!  SO I knew today was going to be interesting and I was right...she shed lots of tears and then when it was done all she could do is look in the mirror at herself!  She is excited...whether that will continue who knows....she got red and white rubberbands for the Huskers and also her school colors since homecoming is in Sept.  Rachael also started middle school last week...that was interesting because they have 4 minutes between classes and she was late to 3 of them on her first day so she came home mad and hated school because she can't do it....well the 2nd day got better and by now she is liking it very much....

Ashley started 4th grade and she is liking it so far...she has to write in cursive for most of her stuff so that will be a challenge at first.  She doesn't complain though about her homework she just comes home and does it....

Allison started 1st grade...I can't believe my baby is in 1st grade!  She has an awesome teacher and is loving everything she is doing so far.

Now for me....summer was pretty busy between work and Jason's games...and then trying to sleep with 3 kids running around and fighting that was fun!  Some weeks were busy at work and some were not so I got called off once in a while and that didn't help the paycheck and the bills any!  I decided that I needed to look for a 2nd job....maybe go part time here in Vermillion and then be part time somewhere else so I could pick up hrs and that at both places.  Well I decided to apply with the prison in Springfield because that would get me back into the state and the great benefits there and hey I have worked at the State Hospital for 5 years so how bad could this be right?  I interviewed there and during the interview she tells me that you can wear crocs but they don't encourage the ones with the holes cuz they don't want you to get your socks full of blood>......ok I can deal with that...then one nurse comes in looking for help with something cuz one is bleeding over here and this one needs to be changed and the waiting room is full!  Wow I am thinking how exciting....and busy!  I am not one that can sit and do nothing....in fact I am at work in Vermillion right now and if I weren't typing on my computer I would be bobbing my head like my co worker over here....(watch out don't hit your head)......SO the interview continues and she tells me that it is full time...I think ok I can deal with that....one weekend a month and every 3rd holiday...ok I m listening....I work every 3rd weekend and every other holiday in Vermillion and then she says one weekend every 8 weeks of call.....I do 36 hrs of call in 6 weeks in Vermillion....as if you haven't noticed things here are sounding pretty good!  SO on the way home I call my brother who also works at the prison and ask him what I am going to be getting into if I take this job and he said if you can work at HSC you can work here no problems.  Then the next morning I get a call from the nurse manager at the prison and she is offering me the job....and here is the best part...it pays 2.50 more than I make in Vermillion.....so what do you think I did????????????

I will be starting my new job at the prison on Sept 22nd.....since I had worked for the state before all my years of service count for retirement and benefits and that so this means I may actually be able to retire someday!  Well maybe...I did get the bill for Rachaels braces and OUCH!!!!  I will be paying on this for a while!  Then after that Ashley will be getting hers and Im not sure yet but I would be willing to bet Allison won't be far behind!

My other big happenings is that I somehow got myself roped in to being the PTA president for the younger girls school this year!  I was treasurer last year and got out of that in May but due to some family things with the gal that took president on they were without someone and before I got appointed I just said I would do it....I have been regreting it since....it is a lot of busy work and I work such crazy hrs I am not sure how it will go but hey will try it and see!

I still like my new car except the windows screech when rolling them down so I will be getting that fixed tomorrow...I took it to the dealer I got it from once and they didn't fix something right cuz the noise came back in a few weeks.....I thought about taking it to them again but figured I would try somewhere else and see if they can fix it right!

Well I suppose I should get back to work or something....maybe a nap....no just kidding...I have a few things I can do.

Hope all is well with all of you and I will try to get better about updating this....I am finally learning more about facebook and finding all kinds of people I haven't talked to in several years....Hope you all have a good week!

  • Facebook and other ramblings

I am starting to use facebook and it is kinda scary... I am meeting or reconnecting with all these people from high school and able to see what my brother is up to(even though he doesn't have much on there) I get to see pictures of my niece and nephew and all the other people I miss!  It is fun yet still very new to me....I have to try to get more pictures on there from my other computer so that will come....

As for the other ramblings...I bought a new car last week!  It is great so far....got the windows tinted yesterday.  It is an 07 Chevy Impala.  Silver....the only problem that I have had is the guy who sold it to me said it was flex fuel so I think great I will save a little money and filled up with flex fuel.....what do you suppose happened!  The very next morning the check engine light came on and when I called to inquire more found out that it indeed was not a flex fuel vehicle.  All is good now but it was a little hairy for a while!

The girls are busy in their actvities and Jason is busy with baseball at least 4 nights a week so needless to say we are very busy!  There is always something we are running to or doing....and the house is paying for it.  We have decided that Rachael is old enough to watch the girls....so thinking they can also clean while they are home is still a work in progress.  I am looking actively for any boot camps that you may have that will take my children and turn them into listening well behaved humans.

As for me and work things are going ok....there are days when I wonder why I even became a nurse but more than not it is rewarding.  My biggest problem is working nights with the girls home....we are still working on that only bother mom if there is blood or someone is dying thing....no one gets it here!  So I go for days without sleep and probably get a little crabby but hey whatever right?

Well that is about all I can think of right now for what is happening here so will update later on any randoms!

hi all!  I have heard that it has been a long time since i updated on here so thought that tonight while i am at work and it is not so busy i would update!  so i can't remember for sure what i had last on here but I started a new job in April at a small hospital in Vermillion SD that is only 20 min from home.  So far i really like it....of course it has its moments like any other job but i like the people i work with and like what i am doing.  I am going to start doing some training in OB and get to watch some deliveries....I helped with my first one a few weeks ago and wow what a rush!  I also did some starting to train in our ER....our hospital is only 25 beds and has a 5 bed ER.  It is really busy at times but then has its slow times too...the only thing I really don't like is that at night we only have 2 nurses one for the floor and one for the ER and not until we have 15 pts do we get another nurse!  Which means I could have 14 at a time by myself!  That so far hasn't happened to me but I don't really want to see it either!

I had my sinus surgery at the end of April and everything seems to be ok there...i can definately breathe alot better and my headaches are not as intense!  I still have them quite a bit but I think stress and just life have a lot to do with that!  Right now the kids are going to stay home for the summer with Rachael watching them.  She is 11 and we have mom right down the street at work and jason can come home if needed.  The only problem this week is that i worked nights and do this next week too and they don't understand the meaning of the word quiet and mom needs to sleep.  I want to and have told them a saying i heard from my sister in law if its not broke or not bleeding i don't want to hear about it!!!  They come in for the silliest things and i really haven't gotten much sleep this week!  They also are not real good about listening to clean up.....not sure what to do about this but it has been a major fight at our house for some time now.  Any suggestions would be great!

The girls started swimming lessons this last week and so far really like them.  Monday they start some other activities....ashley is going to do a drawing class and allison is doing safety town where they learn about safety in the community.  i am kind of bummed that I can't be at allisons last day of that but what can you do!  I am going to try and see if someone can trade me days.  Rachael is going to take a cooking class but that will just be a one day thing.

Jason is busy with baseball(yuck) i hate this time of year mostly because he is gone 4-5 nights a week!  it gets really hard to plan things around and with this new job i have to take call so having to plan that around his games is tough...and we are just starting to get caught up on bills since i was not working full time so any extra hrs i can get here is helpful but not being able to pick up cuz of baseball is frustrating!  Well I keep complaining about this and that and last week jason said dont start with this already or he is going to move in with his dad!  So i guess i will let it rest for a few weeks or pack suitcases for all 4 of them!  Now there is an idea....

not a whole lot else going on here...oh guess i could mention that for my birthday my brother dave that i haven't seen in 8 yrs or talked to actually talked on the phone to in about 4 texted me on my birthday!  It was such a nice suprise probably one of the best gifts i got!  I worry about him alot and wish i could get through to him!

hope you all have a good weekend....i hope to get some good sleep fast tomorrow cuz jason has 2 games tomorrow and i will need all the energy i can get!

good night....or i guess technically good morning!  love and miss you all!
